Till There Was You

Lyrics ,Music:Meredith Willson

The song was publishe 1957.

This beautiful song was written for a 1957 musical play "Music Man."

The song is sung by librarian Marian Paroo (Barbara Cook on Broadway,
Shirley Jones in the film) to Professor Harold Hill
(portrayed by Robert Preston) toward the end of Act Two.
It became a hit for Anita Bryant in 1959
and was later covered by The Beatles in 1963.

There were bells on a hill
But I never heard them ringing
No I never heard them at all
Till there was you

There were birds in the sky
But I never saw them winging
No I never saw them at all
Till there was you

Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew
There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No I never heard it at all
Till there was you

Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew

There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No I never heard it at all
Till there was you
