Lover, Come Back to Me

Lyrics:Oscar Hammerstein II
Music:Sigmund Romberg

The song was publishe 1928.

The song was written for the Broadway show "The New Moon" in 1927.

There is another famous song in this "New Moon".
It is "Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise".

The song was sung by Tony Martin and Joan Weldon in " Deep in My Heart"
(1954), that is a bio-film, of Mr., Lomberg.

The sky was blue and high above
The moon was new and so was love
This eager heart of mine was singing
Lover, where can you be?

You came at last; love had its day
That day is past; you've gone away.
This aching heart of mine is singing,
Lover, come back to me.

I remember ev'ry little thing you used to do
I'm so lonely
Ev'ry road I walk along I've walked along with you
No wonder I'm so lonely.

The sky is blue,
the night is cold,
The moon is new,
But love is old;
And while I'm waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover, come back to me.
